10 Beautiful Pageant Dresses for 2015

In New England, pageant season is in full swing. The 2015 Miss Massachusetts pageant is fast approaching, beginning June 26, and the New Hampshire regional competitions are starting to heat up … which means it’s time to start finalizing those wardrobe decisions.

Every pageant girl knows that what you wear on stage can make or break your shot at winning a title. From the formal wear competition, to the outfit you choose for the talent portion of the show, your wardrobe plays a big part in helping your personality & beauty come across on stage.

In our opinion, the best pageant dresses strike a balance between being memorable, elegant, and unique. Here, 10 of our favorite pageant dresses that meet that criteria for 2015.

The Pageant Dress That Won Miss New Hampshire Her Crown

Besides being a source for dresses for prom, quinceaneras, and military balls, we’re also lucky to outfit many of the local pageant contestants competing in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It’s one of our favorite tasks, to help a girl pick out a dress that could change her life!

Of course, it’s even better when the contestants win! Which was the case earlier this year, when Miss New Hampshire, Bridget Brunette, won her competition in a dress from Glitterati. She went on to compete in the Miss USA pageant in September.

Bridget Brunette, at right.

The dress has since gone on to become one of our best-sellers, and it’s no wonder. Not only did Bridget look stunning in it, but the dress itself was gorgeous. Bridgette’s dress was Jovani style JVN86957.

The back of the dress was equally show-stopping, with a plunging silhouette.

Here’s a little bit about Bridget from her official pageant bio: “Bridget Brunet is a 26 year old entrepreneur who is a born and raised New Hampshire girl. In 2010, Bridget graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Administration. She spent the summer of 2009 studying abroad in Rome, Italy at the American University of Rome. After graduation, Bridget took some time off to travel the world. She spent the winter around the globe with her boyfriend, 2010 Olympic Bronze Medalist Scotty Lago. She snowboarded on Volcanos in The Andes of Chile, bounced around picturesque mountain towns in Europe, explored the backcountry of Alaska and went down under to New Zealand. After a life changing diagnosis of Melanoma two years ago, Bridget vowed to live each day to the fullest and make her dreams realities. One of those dreams was to start a wedding and event planning company. Bridget is entering her third year in business as the president and lead planner of Bridget Brunet Weddings + Events.”

And if you love the dress, we’re still stocking it at Glitterati, so come check it out!

Sherri Hill Spring 2015 at New York Fashion Week

Earlier this month we had the chance to head down to New York Fashion Week to watch the show of one of our favorite dress designers, Sherri Hill. Her shows are always wonderful (Kendall and Kylie Jenner walked the runway for Sherri Hill at her first show in 2011), and this one was no different.

Hill is known for creating dresses that are adored by prom-goers, pageant queens (she’s dressed a number of Miss America winners), and celebrities (Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood are fans) alike, and it’s not hard to see why. Her Spring 2015 collection was truly unique, and had something for everyone: from modern, crop-top ballgowns, to sleek mermaid styles, and even a leopard-print prom dress!

Take a look at a few of our favorites, below.

We loved this modern take on a ball gown. The crop top shows just a sliver of skin, making it prom appropriate, too.

One word to describe this dress: Showstopper. It’s definitely not for the girl who wants to blend in with the crowd.

This is a fun, flirty take on the dress above, and would be great for a Sweet 16 party.

Not all the great dresses were on the runway, either. Bella Thorne wore this adorable Sherri Hill two-piece to sit front-row at the show.

Prom 2015 Trends From The Miss America Pageant

prom dress trends miss america- long sleevesThe Miss America pageant took place this past Sunday, and we can’t think of a better group of women to look to for prom dress inspiration. Every contestant was head-to-toe stunning, and it was easy to tell that a lot of time and thought that went into choosing their wardrobes –especially their evening gowns.

From necklines to colors, we’re recapping a few of our favorite looks, and the gowns that are sure to inspire a few 2015 prom trends.

1. The white dress. White gowns were easily the hottest trend at the pageant, with girl after girl taking the stage in ivory. The dresses proved once and for all that white gowns don’t have to be reserved for weddings, too: The dresses had cuts (fitted, v-neck, or sheath-styles) and embellishments (like oversized rhinestones) that made them feel pageant (or prom!) appropriate.

2. The V-neck. After years of strapless dresses being the go-to style, if the Miss America pageant has anything to say about it, straps are back for 2015, and especially V-neck styles.

3. Metallics. Metallic dresses can be tough to pull off, but the ladies of Miss America showed us how to do it right. The key to looking as good in a metallic dress: choose one that is two to three shades lighter or darker than your skin tone to prevent looking washed out. Dark skin tones typically look best in silver and shimmering champagne colored dresses, while pale skin tones can go for golds.

4. Simplicity. Though the tendency for pageant constants is to go over-the-top with the embellishments, we saw a number of dresses that were simple, and simply stunning. Take Miss Iowa, Aly Olson, whose elegantly cut dress allowed the emerald color to shine.

5. Long Sleeves. Miss America herself, Kira Kazantsev, rocked the trend, and other contestants wore long-sleeved gowns throughout the night.

Trend of the Week: Mesmerizing Mesh featuring Sherri Hill 11151, La Femme 19993, and Jovani 79034!

As a major part of the fashion world, trends come and go, and others stay for years on end. One trend we noticed as being a hit this past year was mesh. Many prom dresses featured lace inserts, and they typically were the ones flying off the racks! Both edgy and classy, mesh is perfect for warmer weather and for the colder months when it’s able to be layered with other fabrics easily. Whether you choose to be completely meshed out, or just feature a mesh insert, mesh details are all the rage this season! Here’s a look at some of our favorite styles featuring mesh this year.
