How to Prep for Prom: Gather Hair Inspiration

The prom countdown is on now that 2015 is looming closer, and we’ve got you covered with the next step in your prom countdown: getting hair inspiration ideas! So whether you’re a hair guru or are a towel-dry-and-go type of girl, we’ve got 4 easy ways to get inspiration so that your hairstyle will be one more thing you can check off your prom to do list.

1. Scour the web:

Websites like Seventeen Magazine and Buzzfeed have amazing tutorials like this and this, and Pinterest has a great stock of hairstyle pictures that’ll be sure to give you tons of options. So whether you use it as a guide to bring to your hairdresser or as a tutorial to DIY on prom night, they’re definitely worth looking at. You can even make a “hair inspiration” folder on your computer to save all your favorite styles.

2. Celeb stalk

via popsugar

Is there a celebrity that you just can’t get enough of their hairstyle? Whether it’s Ariana Grande’s infamous ponytail or Taylor Swift’s gorgeous, curly locks, you can use their look as your inspiration.

3. Start collecting magazines

via vogue italia

Whether you’re checking out street style pictures of Blake Lively out grabbing Starbucks or are drooling over one of Vogue’s photoshoots, take time to circle, cut out, or highlight some of your favorite looks. It might be fun to make a day of it and have your girlfriends over for a hair inspo party (the more magazines, the merrier)!

4. Ask your hair stylist for inspiration

via loyalblocks

Is there anyone that knows your hair better than your hair stylist? If you go to the same hair salon on the regular, you might want to ask your hair dresser for any suggestions that he or she might have for your hairdo. More often than not, you can schedule a practice run so that they can try out different styles and make sure the one you’ve picked looks 100% like how you wanted it to.

NEW Red Jovani Prom Dresses Now at Glitterati

Red is always a hot choice for prom, but it will be especially on-trend for 2015.

Pantone, a company that predicts color trends every year, announced a deep red hue called Marsala as their 2015 Color of the Year, which means everyone from fashion designers and makeup brands, to celebrities and stylists will likely be showing off shades of red this year.

Luckily, at Glitterati, we’re already ahead of the game: we just got a shipment of brand new red Jovani prom dresses! They’re absolutely stunning, and we know they’ll be best sellers for the 2015 prom season.

Check out the new styles, below!

We love the how the red lace overlay pops against a nude column underneath.

These are two of our favorites! In a long, satin gown (left) red looks elegant, and super-luxe, and in a short, tulle style (on the right), it looks fiery and fun.

Ipswich High Shows off the Best Prom Dress Styles for 2015

A few weeks ago, Glitterati was lucky to participate in the Ipswich High School fashion show, where we were the finale woman’s retailer of the evening. The show, which was put on by a terrific group of senior students, from football players,to cheerleaders, and members of the honor roll, was an elegant, exciting success

A highlight of the night? Watching the students transform before our eyes into beautiful young women and handsome young men, ready for the ball (or in this case, prom). It was so exciting to see a full turn out of friends and family to support this worthy cause and have a ton of fun doing it.

Here’s a quick recap of some of our favorite Glitterati prom dress looks from the night.

Annie wore a BG Haute pink and ivory corset style mermaid dress with blush chiffon (pictured below). The bottom skirt zips off for a fun party mini dress!

Micha wore this navy, v-neck La Femme gown which features a sequined lace bodice, a key hole back, and sweeping chiffon skirt. The picture of elegance!

Jordon wore the turquoise version of this fun, cute and fetching of this ballerina short dress with oodles of lace and tulle —  a very girly look!

Riley changed it up completely in this sleek, architectural column dress in a deep, luscious shade of green with nude underlays, and the illusion of see through striping and open back.

Kayla modeled a dramatic black lace gown with sheer paneling in the corset. Think “Moulin Rouge” with a modern twist!

Kaysee rocked the stage with this “heavy metal” modern mini in nightclub-inspired colors of black, gray, and platinum bugle beads.
